Name: Nat from Little Men No. 1501

Maker: Madame Alexander

Size: 14"

Medium: hard plastic

Date: 1952 only

Description: Nat of the Little Men series, taken from the pages of Louisa Alcotts book "Little Men." He is dressed in a period costume featuring a gold felt jacket and matching cap, navy trousers with suspenders and a white shirt. A red bowtie complements his outfit and he wears his original black knit socks and tan colored suede snap shoes. Outfit is 100 percent complete and all original. This is a very rare doll.

Nat's favorite amusements were working in his garden, and sitting in the willow-tree with his violin, for that green nest was a fairy world to him, and there he loved to perch, making music like a happy bird. The lads called him "Old Chirper," because he was always humming, whistling, or fiddling, and they often stopped a minute in their work or play to listen to the soft tones of the violin, which seemed to lead a little orchestra of summer sounds. - Little Men by Louisa May Alcott ( 1871 )
